“Pink” Four-Color Silkscreen, 2013
First in a new series of prints. Each print has the product in it. So, I used pink oil moisturizer to basically make an oil stain for the first layer, then added the product to silkscreening inks for the subsequent layers.
I chose iconic black hair products for several reasons. Initially, I wanted to document everyday objects, that were specific to my experience. I have a certain nostalgia for these products because I no longer use them personally. Pushing this nostalgia, I experimented with using the products to create the prints, staining the paper with product and scent.
